About This Project
A Power BI dashboard of top-level KPIs for the executive team. Built to evolve and accommodate new data over time, the dashboard highlights performance in key areas, including sales trends, product performance, key customers, and shipping costs. calculations.
Project Description
The dataset contains sales & order data for Northwind Traders, a fictitious gourmet food supplier, including information on customers, products, orders, shippers, and employees.
The objective was to present the data to help the executive team to quickly understand the company’s performance in key areas, as well as to update over time with new data. To this end, the decision was taken to highlight YTD and QTD statistics and compare them to previous year or quarter, and in the case of sales trends in comparison to moving averages and totals.
ETL and Data Modelling
The data was extracted from an Excel CSV, transformed, and loaded into Power BI for analysis. Also loaded into the model was a custom created 4-5-4 Fiscal Calendar to allow for week-based DAX calculations.

Data Visualization
In keeping with the objective of the dashboard, a row of KPI cards are placed at the top detailing the current period to date in comparison with the previous period to date. In visuals displaying key areas over time, data labels are shown and columns highlighted only to display either the current period, pervious period, same period previous year, and max and min values.
